Colette from Honolulu asks: “I’ve heard of this new cocktail made with fresh oranges and lemon vodka, called the “Rocket Collins,” and it sounded really tasty. I’ve looked all over for the recipe to no avail. Do you know where I can find it?”

A: I sure do. The “Rocket Collins,” made with fresh Ka’u oranges, is one of the many delicious drinks found in the recently released Hawaiian Tropical Cocktails: Created with the Fruits of the Islands by Mark Sullivan (which is me, by the way.) This new book from Mutual Publishing can be found in all fine book stores throughout Hawaii, at Tiki’s Grill and Bar and Holokai Grill in Wakiki, as well as right here. So, to see the recipe, get your butt down to one of these fine retailers, take a copy home, and then turn to page 54. You can, by the way, meet the author (that would be me) and get an autographed copy of the book on Friday, November 9 from 3 to 6 pm at the Daughters of Hawaii Book Fair held at the Queen Emma Summer Palace in Nuuanu. Also, I’ll be on the Big Island on Saturday, December 1 from 1 to 3 pm at Kona Stories in Kainaliu (www.konastories.com) and Sunday December 2 from 2 to 3 pm at the Borders in Kona. Also, my last book signing event on Oahu for 2007 will be at the Sam’s Club open house at their Pearl Highlands store on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Hope to see you there....
