Yvonne from Parts Unknown asks: “We are trying to make Mangotinis but cannot get the proper proportions. The recipe calls for vodka, peach schnapps, and mango puree. What proportions do you recommend? Also, regarding the mango puree, how is the puree prepared? Is it filtered/strained before making the drink and if so how?”
A: The Mangotini recipe we have in our recipe archives (which you can find right here) calls for 2 oz vodka, 1/2 oz Grand Marnier, and 1 oz mango puree. I would use those same proportions in the recipe you’re asking about, substituting the peach schnapps for the Grand Marnier. As with all recipes, expect a little trial and error. Since the peach schnapps has a lighter flavor than the Grand Marnier, you may need to use a full ounce instead of just a half-ounce.
I usually prepare mango puree simply by throwing some fresh mango in a blender and whipping it at high speed until smooth. Just use as-is, no need to strain it. The fruit pulp is the best part.
